The Men’s Study Group is dedicated to intelligent exploration and diligent practice as it applies to engaging in the world. Informed by Steve and Michaela’s approach to Men’s Work, this group honors the development process and empowers each man to stand on his own two feet as a practitioner.

In this intense, highly personalized setting you will receive one-on-one attention, group support and homework assignments. We will meet on Zoom four times within a 9-month period, with assignments and tailored support.

Between meetings you will engage in self-practice and personal exploration supported by an online platform. There will be additional connection via a dedicated Facebook group.

You will explore pathways that not only reveal and clarify the nature of your interior structures, but also equip you to practically apply these learnings in your life, work, and relationships.

Our approach to Men’s work runs counter-current to the prevailing fads of:

  • Masochistic edge-pushing and endless self-improvement.
  • Adopting pseudo-spiritual ideas about ‘masculine’ behaviors and traits as a substitute for genuine understanding.
  • Leveraging and therefore compounding feelings of unworthiness and separateness for temporary emotional highs.
  • The tranquillizing use of idealism to anesthetize personal exploration.
  • The worker-bee mirage of finding your purpose to feel fulfilled.
  • Outmoded accountability structures that disempower healthy individuals.
  • Theatrical initiation rituals.


The focus of this group is to obtain a working knowledge of key practices that acquaint yourself with your mind, body, sexuality, relationship, and life navigation.

The emphasis is on acquiring and integrating practical skill, and does not rely on peak state experiences or aspirational ideology.

Real skill acquisition involves consistent practice, and you will be guided in both how to establish a personal practice and how to organize your time for maximum effectiveness. This starts at a very manageable minimum and is scale-able depending on your available time and energy.

Whether you’re a beginner or already have experience, this disciplined and creative approach to practice is highly valuable and honed from both Steve and Michaela’s decades of training and their years of work with high performing individuals.

The meetings will involve specially designed experiences to facilitate deep exploration, as well as technique instruction, lectures, and Q&A.

Between the meetings you will implement homework that progressively installs the core skills in your body and mind.

By the end of the year you will have:

  • An opportunity to establish or deepen a personal meditation practice with facility in a range of techniques.
  • A grounding in embodiment practices.
  • Learn how to clarify and modify your body’s patterns in relationship, as well as bring the whole body online for increased pleasure, and to address the most common performance issues.
  • Reflection on your life, direction, and character.
  • Connection to other men similarly committed to this path.

Study Group Content:

  • Home Study Assignments
    Throughout the study group you will receive home study assignments tailored by Steve and Michaela to your goals, practice level, and individual make-up.  The assignments are often reported to be among the most transformative aspects of the journey.
  • Embodied Movement
    Engage in wide range of movement practices to open and educate the body, including the Non Linear Movement Method® and the Movement Koan Method®. You will experience movement as a method of release, somatic education, empowerment, and life practice.
  • Meditation
    Drawing from various traditions and sourced in living experience, we meditate as a means of engaging with life. In developing the core attentional skills of concentration, sensory clarity, and equanimity we can reduce suffering, increase satisfaction, gain insight into self and other, become more skilful in the world, and uncover a spirit of genuine and effective service. Learn a variety of techniques, as well as an understanding of how and when to use them.
  • Engaging with Sensations
    Through engaging bodily practices, meditation, and nature we explore relationship to the full spectrum of sensations from the pleasurable to the unpleasant. This engagement can be applied to situations of stress, survival, emotional turmoil, and also has strong sexual and relational implications.
  • Honing your Discipline
    You will be supported to develop a personal practice of your own and a broad understanding with which you can self-guide or work within various traditions, approaches, and practice modalities.
  • Iron Sharpens Iron 
    Connect with a group of inspiring men as you journey through the months together, drawing strength and inspiration from each other as the course unfolds.

Special Format due to Covid-19 Considerations:

Since we don’t know when in-person meetings will be possible again, we have planned this years course with online meetings. We intend to add in-person meetings in Amsterdam, Ojai and Melbourne when it is safe to do so.

  • The 4 online meetings are designed to cover your entire curriculum for the year.
  • Each 6-hour session will run twice within the same day (Stream A and Stream B). To accommodate international time zones you can attend one or both streams as it fits your schedule.
  • You will have access to our expanded online portal, with your study group material plus special bonus content.
  • If in-person meetings become possible later this year, we will endeavor to add bonus dates with extra material. (if you can’t attend live we will Zoom you in)
  • All dates and times are specified below.

In addition to the immersive learning you will have the chance to connect with like-minded women from all across the globe, which will add richness and a depth of community. Through the online platform and a private, moderated Facebook group you will have the opportunity to ask us and each other questions, connect and share your journey through these nine months.

You are welcome to attend both streams or divide your time between them. We scheduled stream A to accommodate London, Amsterdam and Melbourne times, Stream B is scheduled to accommodate the US and Melbourne. We have already accounted for EU, US and Australia daylight savings time changes, which is why some of the times jump in Spring and Fall.
